There is a local oral tradition about the
nomenclature of Mailsi. Alexander the great (356-323 BC)
attacked and occupied Multan in 327B.C.The defeated nation “Mallois” left Multan and
colonized the north Bank of Satluj river.At that time the Satluj River passed by the place of
Existing Fadda Village. The “Mallios” nation put the name
“Mallois” of this Area. With the passage of time, the word
Mallois changed into the word Mailsi
Tehsil Mailsi was created in 1849.
